河野氏系図表示  Indication of genealogical table

1180年源平合戦の時代、北条市を発祥の地とする河野通清が平家に反旗を翻し歴史に登場  しました。

Michikiyo Kohno, who was from Hojo city, joined the Genji to fight against the Heike clan in the Genpei War in 1180. This was a time when the Kohno clan became known for the first time in histoty.


1180年河野通信が源平合戦で功績をあげ伊予の国の御家人の統率権を得ました
In 1180: Michinobu Kohno contributed to the victory in the Genpei War and was granted a leadership of Gokenin in the land of Iyo.


湯築城は1342年河野通盛により築かれたと想像できます、当時南朝方の勢力が強い
道後平野において北朝方の軍事拠点を築き、以後1334年南北朝時代から1585年
安土桃山時代まで約250年間伊予の政治、軍事、文化の中心であった所です。

Yuzuki Castle is supposed to have been built by Michimori Kohno in 1342. At that time
Japan was divided into two powers, the Southern and Northern courts. Michimori boldly set up a military stronghold of the Northern  court in Dogo plain where the Southern court spread its influence, when Iyo was the center of  politics, military, and culture for about 250 years from 1334 to 1585, or from the Southern and Northern courts period to Azuchi- momoyama period.


1221年承久の乱で戦いに敗れ勢力を失います。

In 1221 the Kohno clan was defeated in the Jokyu disturbance and lost its influence over Iyo.


1239年河野氏の没落時に踊り念仏で有名な時宗の開祖 河野通信の孫 一遍上人が宝厳寺で誕生しました。

Saint Ippen, one of Michinobu Kohno's grandchildren, was born in Hogonji-temple in 1239 when Kohno died.
The Saint was the founder of the ji-sect which is known for "odorinenbutsu", or Dancing Buddhas.


河野通信の三人の妻の一人が北条時政の娘であった関係で河野通久は鎌倉幕府方に味方し伊予石井の地頭統率権を得ました。

Michihisa supported the Kamakura government in the relation that one of his three wives was a daughter of Tokimasa Hojyo.(The Hojyo family had the strong ties with the Kamakura government.)
He was granted a leadership of ruling Jito, or the administrators in Iyoishii district.


1281年河野通有の時代二度目の蒙古襲来 弘安の役に於いて活躍が認められ確固たる地盤を築きました。
In the time of Michiari Kohno the second Mongol invasion was attempted in 1281. His active contribution in the "Koan War" recognized, he established a substantial basis in Iyo


1342年河野通盛が伊予の国の守護職になり湯築城を築城しました。

In 1342 Michimori Kohno became a protector of the land of Iyo and built Yuzuki Castle.


1535年河野通直の時代に湯築城の外堀が完成しました。

In 1535 Michimori Kohno completed the outer moats around Yuzuki Castle.


1585年全国統一を目指す豊臣秀吉の命をうけた小早川隆景に河野家最後の城主河野通直  は降伏しました。

In 1585 Michimori Kohno, the last lord of the Kohno clan, surrendered the castle to Takakage Kobayakawa who was a follower of Hideyoshi Toyotomi. At that time, Toyotomi was the supreme lord in Japan and active in unifying the whole country.
